Fall/Winter Prep for Vehicles:
1) This is the time of year when he replaces my windshield wipers with winter windshield wipers. Living in the Northeast, there’s quite a bit of precipitation, morning dew, freezing rain, etc. Winter windshield wipers make such a difference!
2) Oil check! He keeps his little booklet in the glove box where he marks the mileage every time he changes the oil. He obviously does this throughout the year, not just in the Fall, but he makes sure to check it before I head out on so many roadtrips, as well.
3) He makes sure that not only is my emergency roadside kit stocked, but that I remember that it actually exists and how to access it. We also always put an extra blanket in the car once the weather starts getting cooler. I keep extra gloves in the glove box at all times as well.
4) He gives the car a good wax! The salt and rocks that are spread on the road during the winter can do so much damage to the paint job on your vehicle and cause it to rust quicker. A good waxing before the winter precipitation hits goes a long way towards protecting it.
5) He checks the tires to make sure the tread is good enough to handle ice and snow. We knew we were at the point that we needed new tires, so this was top of this list this year to accomplish before I hit the road.
