A couple weeks ago, we actually reached temps in the 70’s here in PA. In March, no less! That’s pretty good for us, but it was also a big fat stinkin’ tease.
Because it’s cold again, guys. Like down to 27 overnight and waking up to frost on the windshield again cold. And that’s such a bummer after breaking out the t-shirts a few short weeks ago.
So what do I do when I’m itching for some warm weather? When the winter seems to never end? When I’m daydreaming about a time when I was completely content, never stopped smiling and would go back to again in a heartbeat??
Why, I break out my pictures from our Beaches Turks & Caicos trip, of course! It’s like I can feel that warm, tropical sun and smooth white sand beaches right away!
This trip was a total bucket list item for my husband and I. Our good friends had gone twice in the last few years and raved about it. Said it was worth every penny, their family (with 2 teens) bonded like no other vacation, and they’ve made it their mission to try to go every 2 years.
It did not disappoint. AT.ALL.
We started our trip with an airport shuttle running out of gas and leaving us stranded, our driver being arrested, riding to the airport in the back of a police cruiser…
…the most turbulent flight of our lives (where my husband got sick for the 2nd time in about 18 years), being rerouted to the Dominican Republic, flooding when we arrived and more. And it was still one of the best trips of our entire lives! There were only 2 things that would have made it better: our kids being with us and being able to stay longer!
The Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort is stunning. It’s amazing how large it is, how many people are staying there and how it never feels crowded! The walkways were nearly always empty and you could always find a cabana or hammock available.
The one night, my husband and I got glasses of wine from one of the many bars scattered throughout the property, and took it down to the beach. It was only about 10 p.m., and there was not one other person on the beach that we could see. We relaxed on lounge chairs with our glasses of wine and just sat and talked. SO relaxing!
During the days, we split our time between the pools and the beach.
The pools all had swim-up bars, plenty of lounge chairs and towels and easy access to bathrooms and restaurants. Some of the pools even had DJs and games they played.
The beaches were not crowded at all! We loved the big tented chairs and the view of that gorgeous water. The one day, we ordered lunch to go at the restaurant close by and they delivered it to us on the beach! The waiter came back a couple times with fresh pina coladas too! Amazing service!!
The food was incredible! Fresh seafood, authentic jerk chicken and pork, the best antipasto bar I’ve ever seen at Mario’s, thick chocolate milkshakes with greasy hamburgers, steaks, taco bars and SO much more! It was ridiculously awesome!
But if you didn’t feel like eating or sitting at a pool, there were plenty of activities to keep you busy! We went snorkeling the one day (we’ll save that embarrassing picture for another time and alternate universe). There were kayaks, water bikes, windsailing and more.
I even got to participate in a sailing school as part of the conference! Highlight of my trip!! We went about a mile off the coast and I loved every second of it!! I seriously would have done that every day!
There also is a full waterpark on-site with its own lazy river.
Plus there is an Xbox lounge for teens, a Sesame Street Club and more. It’s so family-friendly!
So many times we were just walking down a pathway, and would run into these guys! I was sitting at a session one morning and my husband texted me a picture of him and Elmo while he was out for his morning walk!
Seriously. I want to go back right now. Right this very second. And this time, we’re taking our kids!
