I think we have somewhere around 17 birthdays that we celebrate over the course of about 6 weeks. It’s craziness! We’re big on gifting experiences for birthdays rather than always giving a gift. And sometimes, when this many birthdays hits at once, you have to combine some of these experiences into one outing!
Since we’re all looking for a bit of an escape from the madness that has been the past 2 months, I decided a trip to the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos is a perfect location, and it covers birthday gifts for 3 people all at once!
Kalahari Resorts and Convention Center just opened their Poconos vacation this summer and is Pennsylvania’s largest indoor waterpark! The resort is authentically African-themed after the owners recent 23-day trip to Africa. While there, they collected ideas and artwork that is displayed throughout the resort!
One of the birthday boys that’s coming with us (my nephew!) is by far the biggest animal lover I’ve ever met, and I’m so excited for him to see all of this in person!
And who am I kidding, I’m excited to see it in person too! Just the pictures are breathtaking and it’s in a great location that’s central to Philly, NYC, Lancaster/Harrisburg and many other starting destinations on the East Coast! So thrilled that I only have to drive an hour or two to see this:
And there’s so much more beyond just the indoor waterpark! Guests can also enjoy the 30,000 sq. ft. family entertainment center that includes mini bowling, arcade games, a 5-D theater and black light mini golf. There’s also a huge outdoor pool, indoor/outdoor whirlpools and even a swim-up bar called the Thirsty Turtle! I’m just going to pretend that was named for me and spend lots of time there!
But I know my 2 kids, 2 nephews and niece are going to have the best birthday getaway right here at the indoor water park on rides like the Wild Wildebeest. I’ll be grateful for the comfy lounge chairs while they ride this one!
If your kids are younger, there is plenty to keep them busy as well!
