If you haven’t yet, please read my first post on Migis Lodge in Maine for more information, details and pictures!
I am totally one of those people who starts planning a vacation and goes straight to researching restaurants where we can eat along the way. During our roadtrip up the New England coast a couple weeks ago, I had everything mapped out. I knew where we were eating all 3 meals in each town we stayed in. I had back-ups for some of the restaurants in case they were too full. I knew where I wanted to stop for ice cream. I had it all down pat and it worked out beautifully… except for the 3 days we were at Migis Lodge in Maine.
Since Migis is an all-inclusive resort, my options were limited to “eat in the dining room” or “eat in the dining room”. Giving up total control like that is a bit scary for a foodie like me. but I had ZERO reason to be concerned!! In fact, when we return from a trip, we always talk about the different places we’ve eaten and what our favorite meals were and Migis won with all 4 of us!

Let’s start at the beginning of our Migis Food Journey. Most meals are served in the dining hall, but it is set up so you feel like you are eating at an expensive restaurant! You give your name to the hostess who seats you at your assigned table. At your table, we always had 2 different servers at each meal, so we were never left waiting for one or needing anything! You’re given a menu that is specifically for that meal and that day. The choices are insane! I wish my pictures had turned out better, but there is a strict rule about no cell phones in the dining hall, so I was trying to get them with my old camera and couldn’t figure out how to turn off the darn flash!

Or focus either apparently! Oops! But do you see these choices?! On this night, I got the broiled Gulf of Maine Scallops as my entree and they were absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I wish so bad I had some right now! On the other side of the menu are your dessert choices and the activities lined up for the following day! I loved having this sneak peek!

We were completely stuffed by the time dinner was over, so we always got our desserts packed up to take back to our cottage so we could enjoy them later that night.

My daughter had a lobster for dinner 3 nights in a row! She was in heaven!

Our favorite meal at Migis, though, was the Island Cook-out! Everyone would start heading down to the main dock around noon and boats were taking the guests on 10 minute boat ride out to an island where there was a cook-out set-up!

The choices for food were just as amazing and then we all ate on the rocks and the kids went swimming when they finished! Migis is so incredible they make events out of their meals!

My husband and I headed back to the mainland on the boat, while the kids stayed with the Adventure Club and explored the island and built a teepee (more on that later, though!)
The next day, we had another cook-out for lunch that was just as spectacular on the resort’s main property. The set-up they have is so amazing and the kitchen staff has everything down to a science!

And let’s not forget the most important part. It’s not really possible to have a bad meal when you’re eating with this as your view!

The last night we were there, there was a complimentary cocktail hour by the Lake.

That was followed up with a Lobster Bake with more sides than you can possibly imagine.

The dining experience at Migis is the perfect combination of casual and formal. You are relaxed and comfortable and easily able to find food that you enjoy, while you still feel like you’re dining in class with servers, fine linens and china and top quality food. And in between meals, the main lodge is stocked with a beverage station and pastries during the morning!

Apparently, sometimes me giving up control and “just” eating what the resort offers is a VERY, VERY good thing!
Be sure to check out Migis Lodge on Sebago Lake for more information about where we stayed!
