The hardest part of writing this post was narrowing down some of our favorite family friendly activities in Pigeon Forge TN, because there are SO MANY!! From white water rafting to museums to live dinner theater, everyone in your family will be entertained during their Pigeon Forge Vacation!
Thank you to the Pigeon Forge Tourism Board for hosting some of our activities so that we could report back to all of you!
We recently took a road trip to Pigeon Forge, TN and arrived in town without too much knowledge of what it would be like or what there was to do.
To say we were blown away is an understatement! The town is bursting with activities, attractions and restaurants for kids and adults of all ages.
Here are some of our favorite Pigeon Forge attractions!
Indoor Skydiving for Beginners
When we arrived in Pigeon Forge, it was raining pretty hard, so we decided to visit FlyAway Indoor Skydiving right away. It was the perfect rainy day activity!
We had never done anything like this before, so weren’t sure what to expect but the staff walked us right through everything including showing us a video with different hand signs the kids could use.
Then they got suited up and were ready to go. For their session, there were 4 flyers and one instructor.
Each flyer gets approximately 3 minutes of flying time, but it really seemed longer than that. It’s not all at once either, so they get to watch the other flyers and practice 2-3 times each. Expect to spend about 45 minutes total.
They LOVED it!! If you’re looking for something to keep your teens entertained, this is it! It was new and different and not something that they can experience back home.
Indoor sky diving got huge thumbs up from them!

WonderWorks
We drove by Wonderworks when we first arrived in town and immediately Googled it to see what this crazy, upside down house was all about.
We ended up going on the next rainy day and this time we had two teens, my husband and I, my mom and my sister. There was PLENTY to do for all of us regardless of age!
For the adventurers in your group, there is a rock climbing wall, a 360 bike ride, an astronaut training gyro and a 3-level glow-in-the-dark ropes course high above everybody on the ceiling!!
If you’re looking for something a little calmer, there is a bubble lab, an illusion art exhibit, virtual reality wonder rides and more!
One of my favorite parts was when you first entered the WonderWorks exhibit, you get a taste of what natural disasters are like. There is an earthquake simulator from the great San Francisco Earthquake, a hurricane simulator and even an exhibit where you can put your hand in water that is the same temperature as the water the night the Titanic sank! It times you to see how long you can last in water that frigid (with only your hand).
We ended our trip to WonderWorks with a fun, friendly game of laser tag that’s included in your price of admission!

White Water Rafting in the Smokies
Of course, you can’t visit the Smoky Mountains without getting a little outdoor adventure in too! Rafting in the Smokies was the perfect activity to get the blood pumping a little and enjoy nature!
There are 2 different courses you can choose from: one is filled with faster rapids while the second is calmer and more for young kids. There is also a ropes course right on site if you aren’t too tired from your rafting adventure.
Just make sure you plan ahead and devote an entire afternoon or morning for this activity. It’s about a 45-50 minute drive outside of Pigeon Forge, they like you to arrive about 45 minutes early and the course itself can take about 1.5-2 hours.
The drive is gorgeous, though and SO worth it for some of these views!
Visit Rafting in the Smokies for more information and to reserve your spot.
The Island in Pigeon Forge
We kept hearing about The Island in Pigeon Forge, but weren’t sure exactly what it was until we arrived! Once we did, we could have easily spent more time than the one evening we had designated for it!
It’s an adorable little area filled with shops, plenty of adirondack chairs and even activities and rides for people of all ages.
My kids loved the ropes course with zip lines and even did the free fall jump at the end.
Right across from the ropes course, is the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. It’s the perfect, relaxing ride to grab some gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains! There are especially great views at sunset!
And don’t forget to leave time to watch the fountain shows! The show runs all day long and starts at the top of each hour. There are plenty of chairs to sit and relax while you watch it or get up and dance to the fun music!
You can visit The Island in Pigeon Forge website for more information on places to eat, stay or play while you’re visiting!
Family Friendly Dinner Shows
Of course, you can’t visit Pigeon Forge without stopping by one of the famous dinner shows! From The Comedy Barn to the Smoky Mountain Opry to the Lumberjack Feud Show and more, there are so many show options that are perfect for the entire family!
If you decide to go to the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud, be sure you get there early to grab some photo opps outside! It had the coolest grounds that almost looked animated!
We had an amazing time visiting Pigeon Forge, TN for the first time and only wish we had had more time to explore! There is so much to fill up your whole week, and I loved that there were things to keep everyone happy!
